ParaLaff

Website replacement concepts

Five directions for the new paralaff.app, replacing the 2023 template that is still live. Each page is self-contained — one HTML file, no build step, no trackers — and every one carries the same truths: iPhone and Android together, rated 13+, the public feed as the app's home screen, and the publishing gate that only lets public-domain library passages reach it. The shared brief and the full write-ups live in _do_not_commit/website-concepts/.

01

The Entry

The whole page is one dictionary entry. Cream paper, black serif, hairline rules, and the yellow highlighter as the only loud colour. The feed is typeset as a sense; pricing as a bookseller's price list; the FAQ as a glossary.

02

Play It Now

Demonstrates instead of describing: a working mini-ParaLaff in the hero, with a shuffled blank carousel, a dice driven by themed dictionaries, and browser read-aloud. Chunky sans, hard shadows, bright colour blocks.

Doubles as the V1.x web teaser
03

Karaoke Night

Dark stage. Leads with the finished ParaLaff performing itself — words lighting up one by one — then share cards and the 9:16 video, and only afterwards how to make one. The feed is "tonight's set list".

Sells the shareable moment
04

The Pack Shop

Zine and sticker shop, where words come in packs and the game comes in outfits. A CSS theme engine re-dresses the whole page by calendar date — Halloween, Valentine's, Christmas, Birthday — and two kraft shelves split free from Plus.

Monetisation-forward · seasonal

Stays on Your Phone

The trust page, for the parent or reviewer who checks before installing. Calm white and ink blue, system fonts, and zero external requests so the page honours its own privacy claim. Publishing gate and moderation stated plainly.

Best answer to "there is a feed?"

My reading, not a panel verdict. The judging pass never completed, so treat this as one opinion. 05 solves the hardest problem on the page — it reconciles "your text never leaves your phone" with a public feed instead of dodging it, and its feed headline ("There is a feed. It is made entirely of dead authors.") is the line I would put in the App Store description. 02 is the one with a second job: the playable hero is the V1.x paste-only web teaser the roadmap already calls for, so building it is not only marketing spend. 01 has the strongest brand idea and the least conversion machinery.

Still true of all five: the notify form is a front-end mockup that posts nowhere, and there is no store badge because there is no listing yet. The screenshots and the 1200×630 social card are the real assets still missing.
